It’s Sci-Fi month! Check out all of the information on Sci-Fi month here.

I’ve already talked about my favourite Sci-Fi books, movies and TV programs. I’ve listed movies, books & TV shows that are centered around the idea of Aliens. And I’ve discussed different kinds of sciences in different Sci-Fi mediums. Today I wanted to discuss the Sci-Fi books, Movies & TV Shows that I’m anticipating.

I feel like now-a-days Sci-Fi isn’t as popular as it used to be. So not a lot of Sci-Fi content gets the go ahead. I’m always looking for new Sci-Fi shows, movies and books. Unfortunately I feel like fewer and fewer Sci-Fi anything is getting released year after year, it’s so disappointing!

I wanted to list what hasn’t released yet and that I’m anticipating.

I actually had a lot of trouble coming up with Sci-Fi books that I’m excited for. I couldn’t find many that are due to be released soon, I was so disappointed! I feel like new YA Sci-Fi is released every few years but not every year. I mean I’ve read and loved Across the Universe by Beth Revis, Starbound by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner, Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Where are the new YA Sci-Fi’s? Why is no one writing them?!

Well here’s the only book I’m looking forward to in the YA Sci-Fi category! And in the Sci-Fi genre all together…

Starfall by Melissa Landers >> Simply Adrift

Starfall (Starflight, #2) by Melissa Landers

I highly enjoyed the first book in this series so I am really excited to read the last book.

This book centers on two different characters as well which makes this even more interesting. I hope some of the other characters from the first book show up as well, I mean there was a twist at the end of the last book that I definitely do not think was tied up. I need to know what happens to them.

I’m not going to include superhero movies in this section because there are a few Sci-Fi movies I can list, and superheroes are kind of on the border of being Sci Fi and not being Sci Fi.

Passengers >> Simply AdriftStar Wars Episode VIII >> Simply AdriftRogue One: A Star Wars Story >> Simply Adrift

Passengers (December 2016)

This movie looks SO DAMN GOOD. It has Jennifer Lawrence & Chris Pratt in it and what a duo. I love both of those actors so I am extremely excited to see this movie. This trailer gives me chills.

Two people wake up earlier fom suspended animation than they’re supposed to. They realise that they now have to spend the rest of their lives on the ship rather than on the new planet they were travelling too. However, how were they woken up? Why? How could this freak accident happen?

Star Wars: Episode VIII (2017)

Do I need actually say anything about this movie? So excited for the next episode!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (December 2016)

Of course before Episode VIII there’s this.

I like Star Wars and I’ve enjoyed all of the movies that have been released in the Star Wars Saga (Even episodes I-III), but I’m not a crazy fan etc. I just really enjoy watching the movies. So I’m really excited to see this Star Wars story! I don’t know much about it’s background however (Please don’t hate me…).

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 >> Simply AdriftSpace Between Us >> Simply Adrift

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017)

I really like Chris Pratt’s movies, so I am definitely excited to see the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

The Space Between Us (December 2016)

I am so excited for this movie. I guess it’s not exactly a Sci-Fi because it’s based more on the relationship between the boy and the girl. But it looks so good I had to add it. The trailer its self made me teary.

TV Shows

I haven’t been able to find many Sci-Fi TV shows that haven’t already been released. Probably because the new TV series season just started, so here are a list of Sci-Fi TV shows that have recently debuted that I’m excited to start watching.

Westworld >> Simply AdriftStar Trek Discovery >> Simply AdriftPowerless >> Simply Adrift

I know that this TV series has already started but I haven’t started watching it yet, and to be honest, I’m really finding it hard finding new Sci-Fi TV programs (Seriously there is a lack of upcoming Sci-Fi anything!). So I’m going to add this.

A futuristic theme park where everyone is a robot? How cool!

The concept of this show seems so interesting.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017)

I’ve only just discovered this. The the CBS are releasing a new Star Trek TV series? There’s not a lot known about this yet, it’s set ten years before the original Star Trek starts.

How cool will this be?! I’m assuming this would mean a new crew and new adventures?

Powerless (2017)

I’m including superhero’s in this category because I’m still struggling to find new Sci-Fi TV shows. Also, this show isn’t exactly about superheros.

This is a TV show about people that work in an insurance company in the world where the superhero’s are always saving the day. Also where the city is getting constantly destroyed because of the threat on humankind and the superhero’s aren’t exactly thinking about not destroying the city around them when they’re saving everyone.

It’s a comedy, it looks funny and it looks like a good different angle on the superhero franchise!

There are a lot of superhero movies coming out so I decided to do a completely separate post on superheroes! You can check that out later this month.

What Sci-Fi things are you looking forward to? Can you suggest any? I’m definitely open to options!

  1. I don’t really read sci-fi books anymore, but I am definitely looking forward to Starfall’s release too! 😀 And that trailer for The Space Between Us Looks SO GOOD, I honestly can’t wait to see it!!
Looks like 2017 is shaping up to be a huge sci fi year though – from your post, it looks like there are a couple of 2017 sci fi movies coming out! 🙂

    • I am really excited to see the two characters stories in Starfall and to see how it shapes up with the first story. I definitely feel like there are loose ends from the first book that need to be tied up!

Eee The Space Between Us looks sooo good! The trailer alone made me teary. I need to fins someone to go and see this with because my friends are not interested in it haha. It’s so annoying!

I hope there will be more Sci Fi stuff released! I can never get enough Sci Fi lol.

    • The Star Wars movies look so good!

Oh yeah I forgot about Zenith! I’m excited for that one, hopefully after a few edits. A heard a lot of mixed reviews from the snippet they released this year.

I have Carve the MArk on my TBR list! I didn’t even think about that one lol. I didn’t know it was Sci Fi either, I just added it to my TBR because it’s Veronica Roth haha.

  2. Starfall looks awesome, I need to read Starflight so I’m ready for it. Have you read A Long Way to a Small
Angry Planet? Several bloggers have raved about it. Passengers I don’t think I’ve seen but a premise like that- sold! I’ll have to check out that trailer. I love that Jennifer LAwrence is in it. And Rogue One I’m super pumped for.

Westworld is really good you have to get past the first few episodes- they’re good but it can be a tad slow moving. It’s all build up though and by mid season this show really takes off.

    • Starflight is good! So much happens in the first book, I can only imagine the second book to be the same.

I haven’t read A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. I hadn’t even heard of that until this month, it sounds so good! I’ve only just put it on my TBR list 😀

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in a movie TOGETHER?! Yes please! I’m so excited for it! I love both of those actors so I’m hoping this movie will be awesome.

  3. I saw the trailer for Passengers the other day and it looks really interesting. Other scifi releases that I’m looking forward to include LIFE, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and of course Rogue One.

    • Haha I will try anything for Chris Pratt. But Passengers is definitely my sort of movie. I feel like its been so long since Guardians of the Galaxy was released! Movie 2 feels like it’s been taking forever to come out…

I love Anthony Hopkins as well, he’s so good.

  4. I really want to read Starflight! It sounds exactly like my kind of thing: fun and full of twists.

*pterodactyl screech* Rogue One!!!! I need it in my life. Felicity Jones is everything. <3

As someone who's seen the pilot episode of Westworld, let me tell ya. That show is definitely worth watching. It's been a long time since I've seen a pilot that strong! Evan Rachel Wood is phenomenal in it.

  5. I saw the latest trailer for Rogue One at the theater while watching Dr. Strange (Another excellent Marvel Movie by the way. Highly Recommend it! It’s a visually stunning story that goes deeper than the other Marvel productions in my opinion) and DAMN it looks good. It definitely has the classic Star Wars feel to it if the trailer is anything to go by.

  6. Hi Jordon. I’m totally agree with you. I’m really looking forward to this all films and especially to new Star wars. Do you think will it surpass the previous ones?
